Life Cycle Analysis and Eco-design
Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of products and waste is an essential service offered by our firm. This approach, also known as eco-analysis, makes it possible to comprehensively assess the environmental impacts of a product or process throughout its life cycle, from the extraction of raw materials through to end-of-life, including manufacturing, distribution, use and waste management.
What is a Life Cycle Assessment?
(ACV or LCA)?
Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) evaluates the environmental impact of a product, process or service from production to disposal.
It considers resources used, emissions generated and waste at every stage, from raw material extraction to end-of-life. LCA identifies the main sources of environmental impact, assesses the performance of products or processes, and compares different options to encourage more sustainable choices.
The analysis is divided into 3 scopes:

Scope 1
Direct greenhouse gas emissions
- TechSolutions' direct greenhouse gas emissions are mainly linked to energy consumption on its premises, notably to power servers, network equipment and workstations.
- The use of internal servers contributes significantly to these emissions, due to their high power consumption.

scope 2
Indirect greenhouse gas emissions
- TechSolutions' indirect greenhouse gas emissions are mainly linked to the electricity consumption required to run its IT equipment.
- The company may consider switching to renewable energy sources to reduce its carbon footprint in this area.

scope 3
Indirect non-energy emissions
- TechSolutions' indirect emissions in this area are mainly linked to the manufacture and end-of-life management of its IT equipment.
- The company could reduce its carbon footprint by adopting a circularity approach, promoting the recycling and reuse of obsolete equipment.
By assessing these three scopes, organizations can identify the main sources of emissions from their products or waste, and take steps to reduce their climate impact.
LCA can also be carried out by life stage, either by analyzing each stage individually, or by differentiating the three scopes at each stage to target emission sources precisely.
How we work
As an environmental assessment consultancy, Phishia helps companies to carry out their product and waste lifecycle analyses efficiently and comprehensively. Here are the typical stages of our intervention:
We start by precisely identifying potential sources of greenhouse gas emissions, covering scopes 1, 2 and 3, so as not to leave out any significant source.
We gather the data required to assess emissions, including energy consumption, travel, industrial processes, etc. We approximate missing data to ensure completeness.
Using approved methodologies, we calculate the greenhouse gas emissions associated with each identified source, converting the data collected into equivalent CO2 emissions.
We analyze the results to identify the main sources of emissions and opportunities for improvement. We summarize our findings in a detailed report, presenting the results of the carbon footprint assessment and specific recommendations for reducing the company's carbon footprint.
